Gun Shows Banned On NY County Land

Westchester County Executive George Latimer made it official this week that gun shows are prohibited from being held on any county property.

Latimer, a Democrat, last year defeated two-term Republican incumbent Robert Astorino for the spot as head of the executive branch of the million-resident county in the Hudson Valley and embarked on a plan to bar gun shows from the County Center. The new county head said he felt having gun shows on government property did not reflect the community and on Monday signed a law passed by the County Board codifying his January order banning future events.

Latimer stressed the Center, now home to the WNBA’s New York Liberty basketball franchise, can generate revenue in a more “family-friendly” way than from a gun show.

“Plain and simple, Westchester should not – and will not – profit off the sale of guns in our facilities,” said Latimer.

According to local media, the last show held at the Center in early 2017 drew about 7,500 over two days and a spokesman for then-county boss Astorino said the event was “well-run and well-attended.” The Democrat-heavy county legislature had previously voted 9-8 to ban further gun shows, a move Astorino vetoed, saying there was no basis for a restriction.

That solves nothing. Your constituents can travel to another County and spend there money there. But I have another bad idea for your County. Raise taxes and drive more money out of your County as people flee tyranny of the socialist left..

Taxpayers paid for this venue. This now becomes a First Amendment issue. The County should be sued.

Don’t worry the gun show will move to Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, Putnam or any number of other counties within an easy drive. They will take the revenue and not be Anti-2nd Amendment.

Don’t bet on it . Wake up, and smell the roses . They are doing us one county at a time , a little at a time . This is like like cooking the frog -no lifetime license , renewals , safes , recertifications ,trigger locks , no “assault weapons .’ The CIVIL WAR had the ten (10 ) round LeMat pistol , and the sixteen (16) round Henry rifle ; the limit is seven now.

          I’m not a lawyer . I don’t know . I would not advise testing the cost of the proposition . N.Y.S R.P.A . may help , they have lawyers .
New York ranked 41st in the country for voter turnout in the 2016 general election, with just more than 57 percent of the “voting-eligible population” casting ballots, according to a new report.
If New York turnout is measured by comparing the number of ballots cast against the number of registered voters as of Nov. 1 (which hit a new high heading into the November election), turnout was 67 percent (just higher than 65 percent in 2012 but lower than the 71 percent in 2008), state Board of Elections data show . The 57 vs 67 is probably a typo ; my money is on 57 %. Both of these from ,”Times Union ” Capital Confidential . The REPUKES don’t fight in N.Y. State , no mas . The brain dead Repuke leadership has been on life support for that last thirty or forty years . People vote with their feet , N. Y. lost two representatives in 2010 , I can’t wait for 2020 , not only a presidential election year , but also a census year . I predict a three to five seat loss , we can count illegals ( census is a body count, not a citizen count ) , martians , and other transient visitors .
          Answered In US Census
Who should be counted in the us census?
Everyone! All babies, children, and adults who live in a household should be counted. Regardless of nationality, citizenship status, race, age, or gender
It will be a dirty fight .

Perhaps Westchester County Executive George Latimer should seek physiological help in overcoming his quite obvious pathological phobia concerning free citizens owning weapons. It appears his Marxist indoctrination has gotten the best of him.

This JERK is stopping us from being able to exercise our 2nd amendment rights as put forth in the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES. And as demo-rats blocking the citizens to enable themselves to equip for their personal defense and defense of their families or others in harms way.
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF LIBERAL SOCIALIST COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT DICTATORSHIP.
AS HITLER SAID, DISARM THE PEOPLE AND THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CONTROL THEM.

This is an example of DEMOCRATS IN CHARGE OF GOVERNMENT – it is true for the others too. However, before you take a speck of dirt out from your neighbors eye , remove the DEMOCRAT LOG FROM YOUR OWN EYE . There are PEEELEENTY of DEMOCRAT gun owners who vote DEMOCRAT , and complain afterwards .

i have no problem with that…government property belongs to the people..if people don’t want gun shows on “their” property, so be it…if the government doesn’t want the revenue that gun shows generate, so be it…if the government doesn’t think that gun shows reflect the moral/ethical values of the community, so be it…it’s their venue–their land…they can do with it what they want…just like banning guns, though, people are going to find gun shows…all you’re doing is cutting off your nose to spite your face…like states that refuse to have casinos and lose billions to those casinos just across the state line…people are going get what people want whether YOU offer it to them or not…i have NO knowledge of the layout of this particular county, but i SUSPECT that another very near by will be just tickled spitless to have a gun show in THEIR venue…i could be wrong, but unless history fails, for the first time IN history to repeat itself, i’d say my prediction will be spot on…

I’ve walked around many gun shows with family and friends. I was so surprised not a single gun jumped up and shot at us.

    Folks, the Idiots
chanting “No more Guns” really are calling for more
“Gun-Free Zones” that are nothing more than Killing Fields.
Now if every kid in high school there had been trained to handle
guns and had one, do you want to dare tell me who for sure would have
been killed? ANYBODY WANT TO SUGGEST “THE SHOOTER!” For
sure, we cannot guarantee there would not have been another casualty
or two, BUT THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN 17 DEAD AND ALL THE WOUNDED!!!!
